Become a Mad Scientist

Wear your best Mad Scientist costume to meet Jon Scieszka, the best-selling author of the Frank Einstein series, on Thursday, September 3rd at 4:30 p.m. at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.

Scieszka, the author "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs," the "Time Warp Trio" series, "Spaceheadz," and most recently, "Battle Bunny," was chosen as the inaugural Ambassador for Young People's Literature. He is also the creator and editor of the "Guys Read" series.

He is celebrating the third book in his Frank Einstein series, "Frank Einstein and the Brainturbo," by inviting kids to dress up as a Mad Scientist.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.  Scieszka will pose for photos and sign copies of his work, and books will be available for purchase.

Jon Scieszka’s Frank Einstein series uses adventure, real science and his characteristic off-beat charm to create a unique world. In "Frank Einstein and the Brainturbo," Frank Einstein (kid-genius, scientist, and inventor) and his best friend Watson, along with Klink (a self-assembled artificial-intelligence entity), and Klank (a mostly self-assembled and artificial almost intelligence entity), once again find themselves in competition with T. Edison, their classmate and archrival — this time in the quest to unlock the power behind the science of the human body.

This event is co-sponsored by The Book Stall, and is recommended for readers ages 7 and up. It’s free, but registration is required. Call the library at (847) 448-8610 or sign up online.
