ETHS jazz program offers up two full evenings of free jazz music

You can never get enough of a good thing! On Tuesday, December 6, Evanston Township High School’s jazz program will present a Jazz Big Band Concert, followed on Monday, December 19, with a Jazz Combo Concert. Both musical events begin at 7pm and are free and open to the public.

The Big Band Concert, featuring the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Lab Band, will be held in the school’s main Auditorium. On the 19th, six jazz combos (E-Town Combo, Bird Trane Combo, Dizzy Combo, Satchmo Combo, Bags Combo, and Lab Combo) will explore music from Dixieland to contemporary originals in the ETHS Terrace dining room. Directors for both programs are David Seifert, Charles Abplanalp, Matthew Bufis, and Brian Gephart.

ETHS is located at 1600 Dodge Ave. Parking for the Big Band Concert is best in the lot on Dodge, directly across from the Auditorium entrance. For the Combo concert, park in the school’s rear lot, entered off of Church or Lake Sts. Both the Auditorium and the Terrace are handicapped accessible.
