Flippo Jazz Quartet at Tommy Nevin’s Pub

The Flippo Jazz Quartet brings it's unique and refreshing program to Tommy Nevin's Pub on Sunday, October 30th from 3-6pm.  There is no cover charge and the pub/restaurant is ALL AGES at this time, so it will be a great opportunity for a free family jazz concert.

The ensemble has performed and recorded in the Chicago area since 1992 and recently released it's fifth CD, "Life on Mars." This CD presents a collection of jazz arrangements of popular classics from the 60's and 70's by artist such as the Lenon/McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell. The band also includes newer artists such as Sting, Amy Winehouse and KT Turnstall and mixes in plenty of originals by pianist/composer Dave Flippo.

The band's web page is full of videos and audio clips as well as pics, past performances and other info. The address is www.flippomusic.com

The Flipo Jazz Quartet recently won a national award with it's version of Jimi Hendrix's "If Six Was Nine."  It received a "Jukebox Jury" award from Jazz Connects as part of the national conference sponsored by Jazz Times Magazine.
