Foundation 65 willi host its annual My65 fundraiser on Friday, Jan. 31, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Etown Fitness, 2401 Main St. in Evanston.
Supported by more than 70 local sponsors, the event will feature music by DJ Marcus Brown of DIME and Suite Mollie and the premier of a Foundation 65 video honoring the children and educators of our community. The benefit will help to raise a substantial amount of the Foundation’s grantmaking funds.
My65 is a way to come together to show support for public education and our commitment to building a diverse and vibrant community. Our schools sit at the center of our community, and it is because of support from Foundation 65 that District 65 can innovate, thrive, and meet the needs of all of our children as we strive toward educational equity.
With Foundation 65 support, students and educators are given tools to succeed and incubate new ideas. Our support gets more than 3,500 books into the hands of rising second graders in the summer. It allows a teacher to master their teaching skills and introduces a young writer to someone who looks like them. Our grants range from Strategic Impact Grants at the District level, to Engagement Grants within schools and community, to Responsive or Change Agent Grants supporting educator innovation. Our goal is to allow educators to be nimble and innovative as they address the most pressing needs of our children. We believe community support for our public schools transforms the lives of our children and helps us build a better Evanston.
