Guys and Dolls at Light Opera Works

This winter, Light Opera Works presents "Guys and Dolls" by Frank Loessner. Performed with a 24-piece orchestra, this production runs December 26th through January 3rd, 2016, at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston.

This Tony Award-winning musical includes the perennial classics "Luck Be a Lady," made famous by Frank Sinatra, "A Bushel and a Peck," and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat."

"Guys and Dolls" is a near perfect classic musical, with a cast of memorable characters: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evil-doers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos Sarah on a bet to Cuba and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, Adelaide's devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.

Light Opera Works' "Guys and Dolls" is directed by the artistic director Rudy Hogenmiller, choreographed by Clayton Cross, and conducted by Shawn Stengel.
