Human trafficking is a $150 billion industry and is the fastest growing criminal enterprise globally. While a global concern, the epidemic is close to home. Chicago ranks third in the country for the highest levels of human trafficking. While the majority of identified victims tend to be domestic-born girls and women, vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees, are also at a greater risk of being trafficked, particularly women and children. This forum, hosted by the North Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will address how community organizations are working to identify and tackle trafficking channels. The event will feature a riveting discussion with Pamela Samuels Young, attorney and NAACP award-winning author of Anybody’s Daughter*, an eye-opening novel which takes readers inside the the disturbing world of child sex trafficking.
