Jazz brunch, fun and great music

The annual Jazz Brunch, a springtime favorite of those who love cool jazz, great food and helping  young people, will be held on Sunday, March 25,11:30 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1818 Maple Ave. Chicago jazz favorite, Bobby Broom, is scheduled to headline the jazz portion of the event.

Those who have attended in the past love the combination of music, great eats and the opportunity to raise funds for the WE program, which selects high school students whose professional aims include avenues that require additional study, tho not necessarily a college path.  An outgrowth of the Forrest E. Powell Foundation, founded by restauranteur, Hecky Powell, the WE Foundation matches students with mentors who help guide, counsel and affirm the careers these young people aspire to.  WE Foundation executive director, Nancy Baker, indicates that the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that by 2020 only 35% of new jobs will require a college degree.

Last year’s even drew over 200 individuals and raised some $20,000 for the Foundation.

Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 at the door. To order tickets go online or call 847-859-2605.
