Little League champs visit Evanston

Members of the team that won the 2014 Little League National Championship will appear in Evanston Wednesday.

The Chicago-based Jackie Robinson West team members will appear at Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles, 2424 Dempster St.

“We thought it would be great to bring the team to Evanston and let the local kids meet the players who went all the way to the Little League World Series,” said Darnell Johnson, project manager for Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles.  “We want to encourage Evanston kids to aim high and know that they, too, can make history.”

The team will arrive at the restaurant at 5:30 p.m. where they will have dinner and meet with residents.  At 7:30 p.m., the players will travel to Northwestern
University to watch the men’s basketball team take on the University of Illinois and be recognized at half time.
