The Evanston Encore Chorale begins rehearsals for its fall season on Monday, Sept. 12, at Three Crowns Park. Encore is the nation's largest and fastest-growing choral organization for older adults (55+), with affiliates in seven states.

Jonathan and Sandy Miller brought Encore to the Chicago area in early 2016. More than 130 singers took part in the inaugural spring/summer season.

Rehearsals will be held Mondays beginning Sept. 12 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Three Crowns Park, 2323 McDaniel Ave.

Performances are set for Friday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. at The Merion, and Thursday, Dec. 29, at 3 p.m. at Three Crowns.

In addition, the six Encore choirs in the Chicago area will come together for a concert on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church.

How to Register:  Visit the Encore website or call 630-441-5157. Tuition for the fall session is $175, which includes all rehearsals, sheet music and a practice CD.  No audition is required. Singers may be seated for rehearsals and performances as needed.

Encore Illinois founder Jonathan Miller, who is founder and artistic director of the professional vocal ensemble Chicago a cappella, says, “Encore is an excellent way to learn how to develop or improve your musical abilities, meet new friends and look forward to an exciting performance schedule. You’re never too old to try something new—and to have the time of your life!”
