LWV Takes on the Lighter Side of Politics

The barbs will by flying when League of Women Voters (LWV) of Evanston invites you to “Laugh Along With the League” at the LWV Education Fund dinner on Saturday, April 11.  The event, to be held at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, is a fundraiser for the League’s voter education programs.

“The League takes politics and government very seriously,” said dinner co-chair Patrick Keenan-Devlin.  “But we thought it would be fun to take a night off and have some fun, while raising money to support our nonpartisan civic engagement and voter education activities.”

The laughs will be provided by Senator John Cullerton, who, when he is not presiding over the Illinois State Senate, does a clever stand-up comedy routine.  Evanston’s Mudlark Theater Company will take a look at the lighter side of local government through the eyes of tomorrow’s voters.  And Northwestern’s acclaimed student improv group, Mee-OW, will focus their satirical lens on today’s political scene.

Dinner reservations, at $100 per person, can be made online at  http://www.lwve.org or by phone to Helen Gagel at 847-275-0326.  The LWV Education Fund is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization.  $80 of each ticket price is tax-deductible.
