MetaMedia is a free maker-space for middle school youth (recent 5th grade grads welcome!) at the McGaw YMCA that uses a mentor-based method of learning and exploring STEM-focused activities. In addition to the MetaExplorers Program, MetaMedia will also be open from 10 am to 4 pm every day for Open Studio, in which students can interact with mentors in our space, using any of our equipment for self driven projects or taking part in our various tinkering stations as well. Our Open Studio program is completely free!
In MetaExplorers, there will be four sessions of the two week program with different themes throughout the Summer, listed below. Youth will learn skills in making, digital fabrication and innovative thinking. The program runs from 4 PM – 6 PM, but our space will be open to youth for Open Studio before the program, from 10 AM – 4 PM. This is a FEE-BASED program. Each session is $55 for YMCA members and $75 for non-YMCA members. You can register online HERE, by calling the McGaw YMCA (847-475-7400) or in person at the McGaw YMCA.
