Open forum on state legislation

Evanston's three state legislators will be co-hosting a town hall style forum Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the North Shore Senior Center in Northfield.

The three are Sen. Daniel Biss and Reps. Robyn Gabel and Laura Fine. They will, in essence, be delivering a report card on the legislature's performance so far this year.

The spring legislative session that ended last week accomplished a few things, said Biss in an email to constituents, but left many crucial questions unanswered.

"Most significantly," he declared, "the General Assembly decided neither to change current tax law, nor to enact the very deep cuts that would be needed to achieve long-term fiscal balance under current tax law."

The North Shore Senior Center, which offers social services to seniors in Evanston and other North Shore communities, is located at 161 Northfield Road in Northfield.
