A tenant at an apartment building in the 100 block of Callan Avenue told police he had hidden $800 in rent money under a rug in the lobby for his landlord, but the landlord said the money was not there when he went to retrieve it around 2:30 p.m. yesterday.
A purse left unattended in a business parking lot in the 2200 block of Oakton Street was taken between 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. yesterday.

A package delivered to a home in the 700 block of Simpson Street was stolen between 11:35 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday.
Mail was stolen from a mailbox in an apartment common area in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue around 2:30 p.m. yesterday.
Daniel W. Jorash, 55, of 605 Case Place, was arrested at that address at 7:24 p.m. Friday and charged with possession of stolen property. He is due in court on June 12 at 1:30 p.m.
Chanel O. Turner, 35, of 8734 Kimball Ave., Skokie, was arrested at 900 Grey Ave. at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and charged with forgery and with possessing and selling a stolen automobile.
Two television sets were taken from an apartment in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue between March 28 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked apartment in the 800 block of Simpson Street around 2 p.m. yesterday.
Ricco Dominick Aiden, 51, of 2002 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 2123 Ridge Ave. at 9:20 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of burglary tools. He is due in court on July 6 at 9 a.m.
Leila H. Michalski, 18, of 4933 Drummon Place, Chicago, was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 8:15 a.m. yesterday and charged with criminal damage to property. She is due in court on July 23 at 1:30 p.m.
Someone damaged a glass storm door at a home in the 2400 block of Nathaniel Place around 4:20 p.m. Friday.
Martin Herrejon-Chavez, 53, of 1610 W. Jarvis Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 200 Asbury Ave. at 12:36 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation.
Misael Salazar, 30, of 1936 W. Estes Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1310 Ridge Ave. at 1:20 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation.
