SASI will honor older adults and celebrate experience at the 2013 Ruby Slipper benefit gala on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie.
SASI’s Ruby Slipper honoree is award-winning news anchor Joan Esposito, co-founder of J2 Strategic Communications.
Julie Hamos, director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, is the event’s honorary chair.
Guests can bid on live and silent auction prizes, including a financial consultation with nationally acclaimed financial guru Terry Savage, Blackhawks tickets, get-aways in Wisconsin and the Four Seasons in Chicago, roundtrip airline tickets to any destination in the continental U.S., and seats at many of Chicagoland’s finest theaters and restaurants.
Raffle prizes are $500 cash and an overnight with breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton–Chicago.
Co-chairing this year’s Ruby Slipper are Ellen Browne and Ann Searles, both of Evanston, assisted by benefit committee members Karen Hunt, Naja Maltezos and Jeff Siegel, all of Evanston; and Diane Rosen of Glenview. Don Crost of Evanston will serve as auctioneer.
Admission is $125 per person, pre-paid. Reservations are limited and are due on Oct. 7.
Proceeds from the Ruby Slipper will benefit SASI, a community nonprofit that helps older adults who, due to aging, illness or injury, need assistance with personal care and daily activities.
Founded in 1975 and based in Evanston, SASI is licensed by the State of Illinois and serves individuals and families in Chicago and the north/northwest suburbs.
