Spring Band, Choral, and Orchestra concerts at ETHS in May

Three upcoming concerts—on May 18, 23, and 25—will showcase the vocal and instrumental talent of students at Evanston Township High School (ETHS). All three concerts are free to the public and begin at 7:30pm in the ETHS Auditorium.

On Thursday, May 18, students in the Freshman Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony will entertain with music ranging from classical by Bizet and Wagner to Irish music by Grainger, among other noted composers. Matthew Bufis, Director of Bands, will direct.

On Tuesday, May 23, the Choral Concert will highlight various choral groups including the Concert Choir, Chorale, and ETHS A Cappella, among several others. The program will feature a variety of genres from musical theater (Hamilton, Spamalot) to pop (Michael Jackson, Katy Perry), and more, all directed by Vocal Director Mary Theresa Reed.

On Thursday, May 25, the ETHS String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra will present a concert featuring classical and contemporary favorites. Three senior soloists, all chosen by audition, will perform with the Symphony Orchestra, as well: horn players Momoko Hasselbring and Great Vanden Heuvel, and violinist Eleanor Goes. Orchestra Director Charles Abplanalp will direct the orchestras.

ETHS is located at 1600 Dodge Ave. The Auditorium is handicapped accessible. Parking is available in the lot on Dodge Ave., directly across from the Auditorium entrance.
