“Taste of Evanston” to raise funds for social service projects

Some of Evanston’s top restaurants will be featured at the The Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club’s Spring Fundraiser on June 14 from 4 to 7 pm at the John Evans Center, 1800 Sheridan Road, Evanston. Featured restaurants include La Macchina, Koi, Prairie Moon, Mumbai Grill, Coffee Speed Shop, Ten Mile House, and Frio Gelato. FEW Spirits will provide signature cocktails as well as a tasting of their whiskey and gin products, and Smylie Brothers Brewing Company will offer a sampling of their beer as well as pork sliders. The event will also feature live big band music on the front lawn.

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at evlrotaryclub.celebrations.com/tasteofevanston.  Live auction items range from a week’s vacation in Park City, Utah to cooking demonstrations and dinner with a professional chef.  Money raised at the event will fund a variety of local projects like services for the homeless, clothing for indigent children, soup kitchens, food pantries, meal deliveries to shut-ins, and dental care for the needy.  International projects include tutoring orphans in India, cleft pallet surgery in Guatemala, shelter boxes for victims of the earthquake in Nepal, and many others.
