In this dramatic reading of a fictional tale, you’ll journey with Harriet Tubman and four enslaved men and women who seek freedom through the Underground Railroad.
The band includes a father and his young daughter, a field hand and rival house servant, escaping with their lives all while laboring to reconcile their inherent God-Given freedom with the challenges of escape from their evil, unnatural, and inhumane bondage.
The dramatic reading is from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres and a discussion immediately following the play led by director and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary alum, Brian E. Smith. Tickets are $10 per person. Students with a valid ID are free but a ticket is still required for entry. Proceeds go to support the Center for the Church and the Black Experience at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
