First Laugh One-Act Festival will run Feb. 5 through 13 at Piccolo Theatre. This third and final installment in the series will see plays from Piccolo Ensemble Member Jessica Puller and Yolanda Carney hit the stage.
The First Laugh Festival invites writers to explore "things that make us laugh every time". In the first weekend, Puller's "Pygmalion and Galatea: A Comedy of Eros" will premiere as a semi-staged reading. Puller's Panto, "Clara and the Nutcracker", was premiered this past holiday season, also at Piccolo.
The second weekend will feature Carney's "Thinking Sacks of Meat", last year's First Laugh grand prizewinner. Inanimate objects are given life and humor in this new play, through an absurd yet relatable narrative.
