The Evanston Harvest Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Downtown Evanston Farmers Market.
The "Truck-to-Table" event, hosted by Now We're Cookin', benefits the downtown market and Friends of Evanston Farmers Markets, a non-profit that educates the public about the benefits of eating fresh, locally-grown foods and advocates for greater access to healthy food for all community members, regardless of means.
The event, celebrating the market's 40th year, will feature eight plate tastings prepared by top local chefs in partnership with prominent midwest sustainable growers
Early-bird tickets, available through 1 p.m. Sept. 5, are $40, after that tickets are $50. Kids nine and under receive three free kid meal tickets.
Funds raised at the event will be used to continue Friends' educational projects as well as provide support for its LINK matching program, which enables families who otherwise couldn't afford the market to buy fresh produce, eggs and cheese. They will also support The Spud Club, an in-market kid's educational program provided by the Evanston Farmers Market.
Tickets are available online or at the market.
