What ‘The Help’ missed

Joan Johnson, lecturer in Women's History and African American History at Northeastern Illinois University, explains what those who read or saw The Help in order to learn about the segregated South missed, not only about the reality of black domestic workers, but also about middle class and activist African Americans at the time.

Part of the 11 Months of African American History series, and the community wide, "RACE: are We So Different?" program series and museum exhibit, in collaboration with the YWCA Evanston Northshore and the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
