Members of the Lewis-Sebring Family Foundation, together with Northwestern University’s Lucile Krasnow, will be recognized for their dedication to improving children’s lives at the 2015 Youth Programs Scholarship Gala, held at the McGaw YMCA on Saturday, Jan. 24.

The annual event raises scholarship funds to give hundreds of children the opportunity to learn to swim, receive tutoring, attend camp and prepare for college.

The Lewis-Sebring Family Foundation has positively impacted the lives of countless youth by providing access to opportunity through education, technology, and the arts. Over the past two decades, the foundation has invested its dedicated leadership and substantial philanthropy to the McGaw YMCA including the Y's new MetaMedia Youth Center that will provide middle school students with innovative, youth-driven ways to explore advanced technology, music and video production, and creative design.

Lucile Krasnow, Northwestern University’s special assistant for community relations, has developed numerous successful collaborations within Evanston. Krasnow established a partnership with the Children’s Center so that more than 80 families affiliated with Northwestern receive quality early education services each year. Krasnow has also worked to ensure that the mentor program Project SOAR, which pairs Northwestern students with Evanston middle school youth, has created meaningful relationships for both mentors and mentees for more than a decade.

The McGaw YMCA’s Youth Gala celebrates its substantive programs for children and teens, and provides opportunities for attendees to support youth program scholarships. The Gala features a live auction offering three tantalizing vacations: four days in New York City, including a sitting with a portrait artist; a visit to the Kennedy Space Center for four people, including airfare and hotel; and a weekend getaway to a beautiful downtown Chicago condo. A silent auction will include a trip to beautiful Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from March 13 to 20.

Even those who cannot attend the Gala can support youth scholarships by purchasing raffle tickets which will be entered into a drawing for a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (128 GB). Tickets for the Gala and the raffle can be purchased online at www.mcgawymca.org/gala, under the “gala and raffle ticket” link. Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the McGaw YMCA front desk.
