Evanston health officials reported nine new COVID-19 cases among city residents today, while across Illinois there were 2,121 new cases.

The state now has had a total of 259.909 coronavirus cases and it reported 22 more deaths today for a total of 8,295.

Ten of those deaths were in the City of Chicago and six in suburban Cook County. The dead in the county included a man in his 30, a man in his 40s, a man and a woman in their 50s, a woman and two men in their 60s, two women and a man in their 70s two women in their 80s and two men and a woman in their 90s.

Chicago, with 328 new cases today, now has a total of 74,894 cases and 2,913 deaths.

Suburban Cook County, with 338 new cases today, now has a total 59,458 cases and 2,215 deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 56,594 tests for the disease with a positive rate of 3.8%, compared to a seven-day positive rate of 3.7%

Those numbers included tests on 316 Evanston residents. The IDPH reported seven positive cases here for a positive rate of 2.2%
