Evanston/Skokie District 65 schools will partially make up for the cold-weather closings this week by staying open a full day next Wednesday, rather than adhering to the early-dismissal originally scheduled.

Normally, schools have one day a month when they dismiss students early so that teachers can engage in professional development activities in the afternoon.

Wednesday, Jan. 15, was to have been one of those “school improvement” days, but the district has advised parents that there will now be a full day of school that day for all district students.

Additional changes to the school calendar will be coming, the district said, to further make up for the missed classes.
