Evanston health officials reported no new COVID-19 cases among city residents today and the statewide count of 1,298 was the lowest in nearly a week.
But the state reported just 28,475 tests for the disease today, far below the seven-day average of 37,809.
Evanston’s total case count now stands at 870 and the death toll here has been unchanged at 71 for three-and-a-half weeks.
Chicago reported 341 cases today for a total of 61,942 and two more deaths for a total of 2,789.
Suburban Cook County reported 193 more COVID-19 cases today for a total of 45,305 and one more death for a total of 2,108.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 94 Evanston residents today and reported one positive result from the 60201 ZIP Code for a citywide positive rate of 1.8%.
Statewide today the positive rate was 4.6% up from 3.8% yesterday. The seven-day average positive rate now is 4%.
