Evanston health officials reported no new COVID-19 cases among city residents today and the number of cases statewide dropped to 955, its lowest level in a week.

Evanston now has recorded a total of 840 COVID-19 cases and the death toll from the disease here remained unchanged at 71.

Chicago reported 192 more cases today for a total of 57,342 and four more deaths for a total of 2,732.

Suburban Cook County saw 220 new cases today for a total of 42,122 and five more deaths for a total of 2,056.

Across Illinois the case count now stands at 163,703 and the death toll rose by 23 to 7,324.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of test on 29,745 residents today, the lowest test count in a week, with a positive rate of 3.2%, the seven-day average positive rate now stands at 3.1%
