Evanston health officials reported no new COVID-19 cases today among city residents leaving the city’s case count unchanged at 859. But across Illinois 1,393 more people tested positive for the disease.

Evanston’s death toll from the disease has remained unchanged at 71 people for more than two weeks.

Chicago reported 311 new cases for a total of 60,002 and five more deaths for a total of 2,770.

Suburban Cook County had 249 new cases for a total of 43,999 and two more deaths for a total of 2,094.

Overall, Illinois’ case count now stands at 175,124 and the state saw 16 more deaths today for a total of 7,462.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of tests of 38,187 people today for a 3.7% positive rate, down slightly from the seven-day average rate of 3.8%

The IDPH reported test results for 169 Evanston residents today and said that included one positive case, for a positive rate here of 0.6%.
