Evanston Public Works crews continue to clear streets after today’s roughly two-inch snowfall. City officials say that most main thoroughfares have been substantially cleared, so snow parking restrictions will not be in effect tonight.
Residents are being asked to voluntarily avoid parking on main thoroughfares posted as Snow Routes this afternoon and evening to help crews clear snow to the curb ahead of expected colder temperatures.
Street Cleaning
Street cleaning operations have been canceled for Monday, November 11 and Tuesday, November 12. Street cleaning parking restrictions will not be in effect.
If conditions permit, Public Works crews will be working to clean up the large volume of leaves that have accumulated on streets in areas throughout the city. Residents are asked to avoid parking near piles of leaves and debris so that crews can access them. Blowing or raking leaves into the street is prohibited and violators are subject to fines.
Shoveling
Residents and business owners are reminded to help keep the city safe and accessible for all users by shoveling sidewalks adjacent to their property, clearing paths at least 36 inches wide. Landlords are responsible for keeping sidewalks, parking lots and all common areas, including open stairwells, free from all hazardous conditions at all times.
