The deadline for nominations for for city-sponsored arts awards is approaching as is a deadline for the city’s cultural fund grant program.
Each year one individual and one arts organization from Evanston are recognized with the Mayor’s Award for the Arts for their contribution to the community through excellence in the arts.
In addition, the Arts & Business Committee of the Evanston Arts Council is seeking nominations for its fifth annual Leadership Award, which recognizes a local business that has been very supportive of the arts either financially or through the provision of in-kind services, or both.
Past recipients of the Leadership Award include Whole Foods, Farnsworth-Hill, Romano Brothers, and First Bank and Trust.

The awards will be presented at the annual State of the City address and Mayor’s Award for the Arts luncheon, which will be held on March 2.
Cultural fund grants
The application deadline for the 2012 City of Evanston/Evanston Arts Council Cultural Fund Grant Program is Monday, Jan. 30. Completed applications must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Cultural Arts Division office at 927 Noyes St., Room 100, by that date.
Nonprofit organizations based in Evanston whose primary mission is presenting arts programming are eligible to apply. A grant workshop for prospective applicants will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, in room 106 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center.
