Applications for admission to this fall’s class at Northwestern University are down 4.7 percent from last year.

The Daily Northwestern reported the decline, although noting that the university had an unusually strong pool of early decision applications this year and admitted more from the early decision pool than ever before.

Nearly 2,800 people applied for early decision and over 29,000 applied for regular admission.

NU typically admits about one of every eight students who apply.
