A Chinese-American police officer at Northwestern University says he has been verbally harassed by white peers and supervisors.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Freddie Lee, 27, has filed a discrimination claim with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Lee, who’s been on the school’s police force since September 2005, was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 10, and ordered to stay off campus.
Lee says he’s been the target of racial slurs and other harassment since 2006.
The university has denied the allegations. Lee’s lawyer says the case will enter mediation but that he’s prepared to file a federal lawsuit over the dispute.
