A startup company founded in Evanston by two Northwestern University graduates that makes hand hygiene sensor systems for the hospital industry has raised additional funding of $9.6 million.

SwipeSense was founded by Mert Iseri and Yuri Malina and in 2013 won second place in a Wall Street Journal start-up of the year competition while working from a Northwestern incubator space in the 600 Davis St. building.

SwipeSense has since moved its offices to 4619 N. Ravenswood in Chicago.

The new funding was revealed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission and was first reported by MobiHealthNews.
