Northwestern University police say a female NU student was walking in the 2200 block of Orrington Avenue Thursday evening when she was attacked by another pedestrian.

The student told police that two men overtook her as she was walking southbound on the sidewalk. As they passed, by one of the men turned around, grabbed her and began to punch her.

Police say she fought off the man and was able to knock him to the ground. With that, the two men fled northbound on Orrington.

The student declined medical treatment. Evanston police are investigating the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18-25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 160-170 pounds. He was wearing a cream-colored coat with a gray stripe and a white winter hat. The second man was described as a black male, 18-25 years old, 5-7, 150 pounds, wearing a dark coat and blue jeans.
