The Northwestern Wildcats will face Auburn in the Outback Bowl in Tampa on Jan. 1.

NU, which is 8 and 4 on the season, will be making its first trip to the Outback Bowl. Auburn of the Southeastern Conference, which is 7 and 5 on its season, last played in the bowl 14 years ago.

It will be Northwestern’s fifth bowl game trip in the last 10 years and its second in a row.

Last year, the Wildcats lost, 30-23, to the Missouri Tigers in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
