A portion of Oak Avenue will be closed north of Church Street today and Tuesday for the removal of the tower crane used to construct the 17-story Avidor Evanston building.

City officials say access to garage parking at the Sienna development across the street from Avidor will remain open during the work, and pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk on the west side of Oak.

Additional cranes have been moved into position to disassemble the crane used to build the tower.

The Avidor is an independent living development for persons 55 and over. The development’s website describes the building as containing one and two bedroom units ranging in size from 618 to 1,271 square feet with monthly rental rates starting at $2,280.
