Witnesses say four youths fled from the scene after the car they were riding in crashed into parked cars on Emerson Street near Grey Avenue in Evanston about 9 o’clock this evening.

Police are searching for the four — believed to be two boys and two girls — and it appears the car they were riding in had been stolen earlier in the day.

They apparently got into a different car and drove off after the accident.

Update 5 a.m. 3/31/17: Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the car that crashed had been stolen, with the keys in it, from the Mobil gas station at Foster Street and Green Bay Road.

The chain-reaction crash left three parked cars damaged. All those vehicles were unoccupied and there were no reported injuries in the incident.
