One person has been transported to Evanston Hospital after a reported shooting incident near Wesley Avenue and Foster Street about 6 p.m. this evening.

Evanston police are on the scene searching for suspects in the shooting.

Witnesses told police they saw two black males dressed in black or dark clothing fleeing the scene on foot.

Update 6:45 p.m.: Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says police found shell casings in the alley between Wesley and Jackson avenues north of Foster Street and at least two cars were hit by gunfire. But he adds that the woman who was transported to the hospital may have been hit by flying glass or some other object rather than having suffered a gunshot wound.

Update 8:22 p.m.: Now confirmed that the injury the victim suffered was not a gunshot wound. Two persons reportedly have been taken into custody for questionning in connection with the incident, but no charges have been filed as yet.

Update 12:43 p.m. 5/29/15: Police now say the female victim was treated and released at Evanston Hospital. No charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate the incident.
