Evanston health officials reported one more COVID-19 case today raising the city’s case count to 780 and one additional death increasing the death toll to 69.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 171 Evanston residents tested for the disease for a positive rate of 0.6%

While those numbers suggested the disease has remained under relative control here as the state moved into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan on Friday, given the incubation period for the disease, it is too early to tell whether the easing of restrictions will lead to a substantial increases in new cases.

Chicago reported 217 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 51,728 and five more deaths for a total of 2,580.

Across Illinois there were 786 new cases raising the total to 141,077 and 26 more deaths for a pandemic death toll of 6,873.

The IDPH reported results of 30,237 more COVID-19 tests for a positive test rate of 2.6%, a slight decline from the seven-day average of 2.7%
