Evanston health officials reported one new COVID-19 case among residents here today while the number of cases across the state increased by 1,639.
Evanston’s case count now stands at 868. The death toll has remained unchanged at 71 since July 11.
Chicago reported 378 more cases today for a total of 180,476 and three more deaths for a total of 2,786.
Suburban Cook county had 260 more cases today for a total of 44,926 and it’s death toll was adjusted downward by one to 2,102.
Statewide there’ve now been 180,476 confirmed COVID-19 cases and eight more people died of the disease today for a pandemic-to-date total of 7,503.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of tests on 38,8009 people today and the daily positive rate moved up again, from 3.9% Friday to 4.1% today. The seven-day average positive rate is now 3.9%
The IDPH reported test results for 231 Evanston residents today and found three positive cases for a positive rate of 2.7% The IDPH case numbers frequently vary a bit from those reported by the city. IDPH says Evanston now has 869 COVID-19 cases, one more than the city’s count.
