Evanston health officials reported one new COVID-19 case among city residents today while across Illinois cases rose for the fourth straight day, this time to 1,394.
Evanston now has a total of 831 cases. Its death toll has remained unchanged for a week at 71.
Illinois has had a total of 159,344 COVID-19 cases. It recorded 21 more deaths today for a total of 7,272.
Chicago reported 336 new cases today for a total of 56,536 and nine more deaths for a total of 2,716.
Suburban Cook County, which earlier this week became its own region for the state’s evaluation of whether an area is making progress toward controlling the pandemic or needs to return to sharper shutdown restrictions, recorded 230 new cases today for a total of 41,254 and six more deaths for a total of 2,049.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of tests on a record 43,692 people today, nearly 700 more than the previous record set on Thursday.
The statewide positive rate today was 3.2% compared to a seven-day average of 3.0%
The IDPH reported test results for 185 Evanston residents today. It reported no positive results here.
