Evanston health officials reported one new COVID-19 case among city residents today, the lowest number in three weeks. That pushed the city’s seven-day average of new cases down to four.

Across Illinois 1,893 new cases were reported today, a drop from the past two days. The seven-day average of new cases in the state now stands at 2,014.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 54,351 tests for the coronavirus today and said the positive rate was 3.5%, compared to a seven-day average of 4.2%

Evanston now has had 966 COVID-19 cases but the death toll remained unchanged again today at 71.

Chicago reported 354 more cases today for a total of 68,722 and four more deaths for a total of 2,854.

Suburban Cook County reported 387 new cases for a total of 52,586 and one more death for a total of 2,159.

The statewide case count now stands at 220,178 and the statewide death toll grew by six today to 7,880.

The IDPH reported test results for 211 Evanston residents today and found two positive cases for a positive test rate of 1%.
