Evanston health officials reported one new COVID-19 case today bringing the total here to 761 while 546 more cases were reported across Illinois for a statewide total of 134,185.

Chicago reported 153 more cases for a total of 49,929.

Evanston’s COVID-19 death toll remained at 66 today. Chicago reported 15 more deaths for a total of 2,442 and the statewide death toll increased by 87 to 6,485.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 29,987 tests for the disease, a new record high, and the positive rate of today’s tests, 1.8%, is a new record low. The seven-day average positive rate now stands at 2.8%

The IDPH said 205 of those tests were of Evanston residents and with only one positive test, the positive rate here today was just 0.5%

All four regions of the state continue to be on track to meet the standards for moving to the next phase of the Restore Illinois plan later this month.
