ComEd is working this week to upgrade underground cables along Dodge Avenue after identifying them as a factor in power outages that hit Evanston last week.

The outages knocked out power to portions of the middle of town, as well as to some buildings downtown and on the Northwestern University campus.

The work area will run from Greenleaf to Oakton Streets and work is expected to continue from today through Friday, starting at 8:30 a.m. each day and ending by 3:30 p.m.

Dodge will remain open to traffic in both directions, but there will be a daily lane shift.

“No Parking” signs will be posted along portions of Dodge to facilitate the work.

City officials are asking drivers to use extreme caution in the construction zone because workers and equipment will be present in the street.

The project manager for ComEd, Michael Boss, can be reached at 630-437-2130.
