Thursday evening outdoor dancing returns to downtown Evanston for its 12th summer season tonight on the plaza next to the Davis Street Metra station.

The six-week series launches with Angel Melendez playing Latin rhythms including Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata tonight.

The full schedule is here, and you can find a photo gallery from one of last year’s events here.

Each week the program features dance instruction from 6 to 6:45 p.m. followed by live music and dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. The event spotlights a different dance style each Thursday.

The program is sponsored by Downtown Evanston. It’s free, and all ages are welcome.
