Outgoing Evanston Mayor Steve Hagerty delivered his final state of the city address in a virtual presentation to an Evanston Chamber of Commerce session today.

The mayor noted several accomplishments during his term — including construction of the Robert Crown Community Center and renovation of the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.

He also discussed the city’s progress in spurring construction of affordable housing and its success in adding new municipal customers for the city’s water system. And he addressed the challenges the city has faced in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hagerty chose not to run for election to a second term. Mayor-elect Danial Biss is scheduled to be sworn in on May 10.
