Evanston health officials reported 37 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 20 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 96.

Statewide there were 8,757 new cases today, compared to 7,569 yesterday, for a new total of 1,008,045.

The state reported 175 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 138 yesterday, for a new total of 17,272.

The state reported 105,518 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 80,974 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of public health reported tests of 1,820 Evanston residents today, compared to 707 yesterday. That appears to be the second-highest one-day test count of the pandemic here. The IDPH found 21 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.2%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,305 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,247 cases.

Chicago reported 1,778 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 213,106 and 28 new deaths, for a total of 4,283.

Suburban Cook county reported 1,553 new cases today for a total of 196,899 and 23 more deaths for a total of 3,869.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a two men in their 40s, three men in their 50s, one woman and six men in their 60s, eight women and eight men in their 70s, seven women and nine men in their 80s, foru women and two men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.

As of last night, 3,921 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 783 patients were in the ICU and 450 of those were on ventilators.
