The “Paint Evanston Purple” pep rally scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening has been cancelled.

Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz says the event at the NU clock tower on Orrington Avenue at Clark Street has been scrubbed to avoid conflicting with a vigil being held for missing NU sophomore Harsha Maddula, also at 6 tonight at the Northwestern Arch at Sheridan Road and Chicago Avenue.

The pep rally was planned to promote special ticket prices for Evanston residents attending Saturday’s Wildcat football came against Indiana.
