Evanston parking tickets now can be paid online or by calling a toll-free phone number.
The city’s new services are available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These services also provide the city with improved tracking of parking citations issued by the city’s Parking Services and Police Department and replace outdated processes and software.
Callers can pay by credit card using a toll-free phone number equipped with an Integrated Voice Response (IVR) system; web surfers can visit the city’s website, for a link to the online payment service. Both systems offer the additional feature of being able to look up unpaid citations.
The traditional methods of payment are still available, including by mail using check or money order, and in-person at the Evanston Civic Center Collector’s Office using check, cash, credit card or money order. The Collector’s Office is located on the first floor of the Evanston Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue.
Another new convenience is the ability to schedule in-person hearings by telephone via toll-free number. Residents will be directed to city staff members who will schedule in-person hearings on citations. This option will replace mailing or dropping off a request for an in-person hearing.
In-person hearing requests will continue to be accepted online through the city’s web site. Methods for requesting a written or online hearing will remain the same.
New citation designs will also hit the streets and feature more detailed information regarding payment and hearing options with one phone number to have all questions answered.
The city hired outside vendor Duncan Solutions, based out of Milwaukee, Wis., to implement and maintain the service.
