The long-awaited brew pub on Howard Street in Evanston, Peckish Pig, now is scheduled have its grand opening on Thursday, March 20.

Owners Debbie and Jamie Evans say they’ll have appetizers, live music and a burlesque performance as part of the opening night festivities starting at 6 p.m.

A published report says the place will have soft-opening events starting this Thursday as well.

The brew pub owners took over a row of five decrepit storefronts at 623 Howard, and with substantiall financial help from the city, have transformed it into a shiny new, yet rustic looking dinner spot with menu items ranging from burgers to deep-fried ham hocks.

The first two beers from the brewery out back are scheduled to be ready for the grand opening.

Evanston’s turning into a hot spot on the craft brewing scene, with Temperance Brewery already open on Dempster Street and Smylie Bros. scheduled open later this year on Oak Avenue downtown.
