Evanston police say a 63-year-old Evanston man was hit by a car at Church Street and Benson Avenue downtown about 8 a.m. today.

The victim was taken by Fire Department ambulance to Evanston Hospital for treatment of a head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

    I was nearby when this accident occurred and just want to say how impressed I was with how quickly the Evanston police and then the EMT arrived to help this man.
