Pedestrian hurt as car jumps curb

Evanston Police say a pedestrian was seriously injured when a car jumped the curb at the Walgreens shopping center at 635 Chicago Ave. early this afternoon.

The car ended up in a planter bed just outside the Hunan Spring restaurant in the center.

Deputy Police Chief Joseph Dugan says it appeared the female driver of the car may have hit the wrong pedal while traveling through the parking lot.

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old Chicago man, was trapped under the car and is now reported in stable condition at St. Francis Hospital with a compound fracture to the leg.

The incident happened about 12:35 p.m.
